Born on Manhattan, New York City, on April 4, 1965, Robert Downey Jr. comes from a long line of Hollywood celebrities.
His father is Robert Downey Sr., a writer, director, and actor and his mother was Elsie Downey, an actress. His sister is also an actress Allyson Downey.
RDJ was interested into films from his early age, and he had his first movie role when he was only 5 years old, in Pound (1970).
Downey Jr. will become famous in the late 1980s, after his roles in movies such as America (1986), Less Than Zero (1987), Chances Are (1989) and True Believer (1989).
RDJ almost ruined his career, by partying too hard, and being in a constant problem with the law.
His drug and alcohol abuse ended in the early 2000s, and his career skyrocketed, as Robert appeared in many hit movies: A Scanner Darkly (2006), Zodiac (2007), Tropic Thunder (2008), and, finally - Iron Man (2008).
Iron Man was married to an actress Debora Falconer, and his second wife is Susan Downey.
